Get Hot in NOLA in June with Fun Events!

Why not come and have a fun time at our early-summer events, and then spend your evening in air-conditioned comfort at opens in a new window1896 O’Malley House?

The first fun event is the opens in a new window2019 New Orleans Oyster Festival, held at Woldenburg Park, Saturday and Sunday, June 1-2, from 10:30am to 8:00pm. It’s a food fest, but like pretty much any festival in NOLA, it’s got live music from local bands, as well as cooking demonstrations, and a few really fun contests – Oyster Shucking, Oyster Eating, and Largest Oyster. The entry is free, but to sample the various offerings from restaurants such as Felix’s, Drago’s and Acme Oyster House (as well as several others), and buy from the craft vendors, you’ll need to have some funds. A portion of the proceeds will benefit a number of coastal restoration organizations.

The next fun event, and you will want to get your rooms reserved early, is opens in a new windowNew Orleans PRIDE 2019, and it will be held at various locations, Friday through Sunday, June 7-9th. PRIDE celebrates the message of One CommUNITY, upholding the values of Inclusivity, Diversity and Creativity. The famous parade, which drew thousands of spectators last year, rolls on Saturday, with all kinds of other events, which usually consist of special celebrations at bars, a burlesque show, dance parties, and the beloved PrideFest block Party on Sunday, followed by a T dance. Many of the events are family-friendly. Make sure to check their website often for updates on what is available to do.

I have to mention one last thing, which is a super-fun event happening in May – on Thursday evening the 16th, head to Woldenburg Park for opens in a new windowTop Taco New Orleans, a really great festival-contest that allows unlimited gourmet taco and cocktail tastings, plus tequila tasting for $75! Get tickets opens in a new windowhere. There will be bands and dancing and so much to see! Your ticket gets you four voting chips to award to your favorite purveyors. This is a 21-and-over event which benefits Foster NOLA.
