Make Plans for a Fabulous Holiday in New Orleans!

The weather here in November and December is usually quite temperate compared to other places, making it a relief to throw off those heavy winter coats and boots and show off your fashionable garb. Imagine a stroll down the Vieux Carré with a nice go-cup full of your favorite beverage, checking out the sights and sounds of New Orleans.

You could check out the opens in a new windowTremé Creole Gumbo Festival coming up this weekend, from November 12-13, 2016. Each day from 11:00 a.m. until 7:15 p.m. you can enjoy free admission to eat lots of gumbo, prepared any way you can imagine, as well as listen to live musical acts. The fest takes place at Congo Square in the corner of Louis Armstrong Park, as well as in other sections of the park.

The day after Thanksgiving marks the opening of a grand NOLA tradition – opens in a new windowCelebration in the Oaks. From November 25 – January 1,  make a magical journey through City Park, decorated with multiple light displays, decorated Christmas trees, amusement rides, even ride the historical carousel that is over 100 years old! Parents and children are welcomed to take the two-mile miniature train ride. Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday, 6:00-10:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 6:00-11:00 p.m. (closed December 1-4, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve).
