August is a delicious month in New Orleans, thanks to COOLinary New Orleans, where you can enjoy special meals in many local restaurants and dig into great New Orleans cuisine!  But that’s not all – New Orleans has a variety of events to help you enjoy every last minute of summer.

August 1-4 – Check out the 13th Annual Satchmo Summerfest, a festival celebrating the great Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong.  This event provides a weekend full of live jazz music from local performers.  There will also be interesting seminars and speakers.  There will be plenty to eat as well with local restaurants providing delicious items at the festival.

Saturday, August 3 – Enjoy the Whitney White Linen Night, a free local art reception featuring live music, delicious food, and the 2013 Signature Drink: Epic Vodka Ginger Mint Lemonade.  This festival along Julia Street is a New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center fundraiser and is a great way to explore our local art.

Saturday, August 10 – Pull out your red dress and join us for the 2 mile Red Dress Run.  This is a charity run organized and hosted by The New Orleans Hash House Harriers, and guaranteed to give you a good time!         It’s not just about the run – but it also about the party featuring live music, delicious food, and lots of beer to keep you going!

Saturday, August 10, After the Red Dress Run, check out the 12th Annual Dirty Linen Night, another art night Royal Street featuring art, crafts, and antiques in 40-50 shops.  You’ll find Dirty Rice and Dirty Martinis available throughout the event plus wandering clowns, local music, and other types of street entertainment.

As always there’s so much to do – see you in August!
