When you live in New Orleans, sometimes you forget that every city in the world doesn’t have a festival going on almost every week! So, we invite you here, to take part in some of the most unique and crazy events of 2017 – right after the kids go back to school, so you can enjoy some of that prized adult time!
September 11-17, 94 different restaurants (so far) will celebrate “ opens in a new windowWe Live to Eat Restaurant Week“. This will entail the participating restaurants offering prix fixe menus, with two-course lunches for under $20 and three-course dinners for under $39. What a great chance to try some of the best dining in the world for a very reasonable cost!
Speaking of adult times, the opens in a new windowNew Orleans Burlesque Festival takes place in varied venues throughout the city September 14-17. Performers from around the world will take part in shows and other events like showcases, discussion panels, workshops and a competition, giving the public a chance to take part in the classic Burlesque Revival in the Big Easy.
On September 23, opens in a new windowNOLA on Tap, the largest regional beer festival, will take place at the New Orleans City Park festival grounds from noon-7pm. Sponsored by Port Orleans Brewery, this dog-friendly fest will feature over 400 different brews, live music, art and merchandise vendors, food, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Also on September 23rd, but at Woldenberg Park, the opens in a new windowFried Chicken Festival will send the smell of delicious chicken dishes wafting over the Crescent City. 35 vendors will be selling their poultry creations, a live music stage and a DJ stage, with cooking demonstrations on a third. There will even be a Chicken and Champagne VIP lounge!
September 30 – October 1, the famous Tremé neighborhood puts on a opens in a new windowFall Festival. The festival is located at the intersection of Henriette Delille and Governor Nicholls Street, in the St. Augustine Church yard, and donations will benefit the church and the Tomb of the Unknown Slave. There will be food and incredible live music, and a chance to appreciate the cultural significance of this beloved neighborhood.
Finally, celebrate opens in a new windowCarnaval Latino in the French Quarter on September 30. It’s a family event with free admission and is well-known for the fabulous Carnaval Parade, “Desfile De Las Americas”. The festival features a concert after the parade, giving you the chance to dance your feet off, with frequent breaks to sample the savory Latin treats available in the food court.
