PO-BOY Festival

On November 20th, 2011, New Orlineans will gather to celebrate the humble Po’Boy and it’s New Orleans origins. The fourth annual festival will be held on Oak Street between Carrollton Avenue and Eagle Street  from 11am to 6pm.

The festival was started as as a way to celebrate the Po’Boy as well as bring attention to the revitalization of the Oak Street Business corridor. Oak Street was designated a National Main Street by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2006, additionally, the street was declared a Louisiana Main Street by the state Department of Historic Preservation. Money raised by the festival will be used by the Oak Street Association to continue to promote the area as well as provide grants for neighborhood associations.

The star of the show is the Sandwich itself, and many vendors will be out in force with everything from simple shrimp to magnificent lobster Po’ Boys.
