San Fermin en Nueva Orleans – July 11-14, 2013

From July 11-14, experience the exhilaration of the Spanish adventure, without crossing the Atlantic, and without the hazard of real bulls.  Join us in the French Quarter for the San Fermin en Nueva Orleans, our own version of the Running of the Bulls.  Coming down for this event?  Make your reservation with 1896 O’Malley House Bed & Breakfast for true rest and relaxation (between the excitement!)

Thursday, July 11 – Kick-off the festival with Marques de Caceras Wine Dinner where the delicious cuisine is perfectly paired with Marques de Caceres wines for an exquisite, an ideal way to begin the festival.

Friday, July 12 – Officially begin the San Fermin in Nueva Orleans with El Txupinazo (pronounced el choo-pee-naht-so).  Meet other festival-goers and enjoy authentic Spanish cuisine.  Get into the spirit with festive red and white attire.

Saturday, July 13 – This is the day you’ve been waiting for!  Instead of being chased by real bulls – they take some of the stress out of it and send the RollerBulls after you!  These roller derby girls from Big Easy Rollergirls and other leagues will chase and “gore” all festival goers.  This event is huge – expect over 14,000 runners and 400 RollerBulls.

After the excitement, enjoy cocktails and a concert put on my local musicians to relax and celebrate your survival!

Sunday, July 14 – Round off the crazy weekend with the El Pobre de Mi, a relaxing event featuring a tapas brunch and specialty drinks.  Then enjoy the 4th Annual Ernest Hemingway Celebration & Talent Contest including a variety of theatrical events.

The Running of the Bulls in Spain is a once in a lifetime event – but the San Fermin in Nueva Orleans is something you won’t want to miss…again and again!  It will be crazy and fun – not just another New Orleans festival!  While you are spending this exciting weekend in New Orleans – be sure to rest yourself in our inn.  1896 O’Malley House Bed & Breakfast offers cozy beds and great bathtubs for soaking – you’ll enjoy the recovery.
