Southern Decadence

The fortieth annual Southern Decadence  will be celebrated Labor Day weekend, August 31st to September 6, 2011. Considered one of the top gay destinations in the world, Southern Decadence is known as the”Gay Mardi Gras” and attracts tens of thousands of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered participants each year. New Orleans has issued an Official Proclamation to welcome Southern Decadence to the city in recognition of the large financial impact the celebration has on the city.

The official colors for this year’s event are Fuchsia Pink, Black and Silver. The official song is Firework by Katy Perry, and the theme is “Viva New Orleans:What Happens in New Orleans Stays in New Orleans”. , to borrow from another rather unrestrained American city. The parade will be led by Grand Marshals Misael Rubio and Tiffany Alexander on Sunday through the streets of the Big Easy.
