The French Market Creole Tomato Fest is a New Orleans celebration of the delicious Creole tomato, which makes it’s way out of farms and gardens into the hands of happy cooks the first few weeks of June. The festival takes place at 2 French Market Pl. in the French Quarter and will feature live music, cooking demos, the Creole Tomato parade, and of course, food, food, food, offered by street vendors and farmer’s market booths.
The Creole tomato originally hails from the West Indies and grows well in the sultry Louisiana climate and rich soil. Their unique flavor pairs well with many wonderful Creole dishes, and happily with shrimp, whose season is also in full swing.
Creole Tomato Festival : June 9-10, free admission.
