Go 4th on the River, 2013: Independence Day in New Orleans

Summer is here and the parties are heating up.  Sure, New Orleans is known for Mardi Gras, but no celebration lights up the Mississippi River like the 4th of July.  If you’re staying at 1896 O’Malley House Bed & Breakfast over July 4th, don’t miss New Orleans’ spectacular salute to Independence Day.

The 4th of July in New Orleans is complete with free concerts featuring local brass and jazz bands and more.  The official schedule of events and bands have not yet been announced, but the grand finale of the patriotic filled day will be a firework display at 9 pm.  What sets this fireworks display apart from any that you will see elsewhere, is the enormous display from twin barges on the Mississippi River in the Woldenberg Riverfront Park.  This event is known as Dueling Barges in the 23rd Annual Go Fourth on the River celebration.

You can view the fireworks either on the French Quarter side of the river, or from Woldenberg Park.

For more details about this event, check out New Orleans Online, but also watch Go 4th on the River website for updated information.  We believe this is a must see!  Reserve your room with us today, and come celebrate with us!
