Can you believe that July 4th has already come and gone? It seems like the year is slipping away quicker than ever! Before the warm season is over and you ask yourself, “Where did it go?”, take a look at these sweet summer celebrations and take a trip to New Orleans for some fun in the sun!

All August long it’s opens in a new windowMuseum Month – this means that if you are a member at one museum, you have the chance to visit the other participating museums for free! Not yet a member yet? This is a great time to join up and help support the arts and culture of New Orleans.

opens in a new windowSatchmo Summerfest starts August 2 and goes through the 4th. It’s a celebration of Louis Armstong, NOLA native and Jazz giant. The fest is held at the New Orleans Jazz Museum (previously the Old U.S. Mint), and daily admission is just $6 for adults!

We’ve got a trio of sartorial-inspired events – first, opens in a new windowHancock Whitney White Linen Night on August 3rd – wear your cool linen duds to the Arts/Warehouse District from 5:30pm-Midnight and enjoy an evening of galleries, shopping, eating and drinking – events include a block party and after-party. Next, wear your fancy pants, err, dress, to the opens in a new windowRed Dress Run – the beer starts flowing at 9:30 on August 10, in the French Quarter, then at 11:30, the race starts – runners in red dresses, with drinks in hand, head off from Crescent Park. If running doens’t appeal, cheer from the sidelines, with your red dress on, of course! Finally, also on August 10th, from 6-9pm, recycle your slighty soiled duds to opens in a new windowDirty Linen Night on Royal Street in the French Quarter – another art party! 

A newer event, the opens in a new windowNew Orleans Salsa-Bachata Festival, is held August 9-12 at the Crowne Plaza. This high energy dance fest feaures dozens of performances, workshops, and social dances. The event hotel is sold out, but we have rooms! opens in a new windowBook now online!

Next we have the opens in a new windowNOLA Downtown Music and Arts Festival, headquartered at Crescent City Barbecue, will have music, food trucks, popup shops and more – a fun end-of-summer fest from August 21-24th.

Last, but by no means least, we have opens in a new windowSouthern Decadence – this event needs no introduction, and rooms in the city sell out fast – every Labor Day weekend, the city is filled with dances, street parties, concerts, and the famous parade. Not a family event – leave the kiddos at home for this one.

So hit the road and visit us in August – so many things to do, you just might want to stay all month!
